Alverde Face Tonic Clear with Pink Clay

This is the second facial toner that I am using from Alverde and I have been using it for  a month already.

What striked me with the first use of the product was its colour, as you can see in the second picture. The pink clay is really there, but you have to shake the bottle before using it, because the clay, being heavier tends to settle on the bottom of the bottle.

The product has a very intense smell, it actually contains perfume, which I do not like. The smell is nice, but too intense for a facial toner, which I want to be pure and respect my skin. I think it cleans the skin pretty well, I can see residue on the cotton pad after using it, even if it is difficult to tell it apart from the actual colour of the toner. :)

The ingredients are nice, a lot of natural extracts, like Bilberry extract, Lemon and Orange extract, as well as clay. The alcohol is present too, being the second in the ingredients list. Another ingredient that I find strange intersting is the maple sugar. I have no idea why they would put sugar in a facial toner, but I do know that it has some weird effect on my skin. As explained in the review for my Alverde toner with algae there is a strange feeling of sticky and sugary that these toners leave on the face. And now I think we found the culprit in the presence of this maple syrup. I do not feel my face really clean, squickly fresh or purified, as I would need for my mixed skin with problems. As for the long term effects, I have  a very difficult skin with many problems, and I did not see any improvements from using the Alverde Face Tonic with pink clay. And the product is actually for blemished skin.

The product, even if it has a nature.org and Vegan certification, and costs around 2,5 euros, didn’t really convince me. It doesn’t offer that freshness sensation that I look for in a toner, and I’m not going to buy it again.

Alverde Body Butter

This little buddy has been my Christmas gift from my best friend and since then we have become inseparable.

It is the only body butter produced by Alverde and it is one remarkable product, it’s a pity they do not offer us several assortments. The main ingredients are the Karite Butter and Macadamia Nuts, but there are also Cocoa Butter, Olive Oil and Sweet Almond oil amid the ingredients.

As you can see in the second picture the texture is not so thick as one would expect from the body butters, it is very supple and aerated, more like a thick cream. It is however thick enough not to fall when you turn the jar upside down, and this is relevant too. Another thing that I particularly appreciate about this body butter is that it penetrates the skin very fast, leaving no oily film on the skin surface. You can put your clothes on almost instantaneously and you’re good to go!

This product has some really enjoyable features, and it became fast my favourite Alverde product. It has a GREAT nut cookie smell, the smell is not heavy, and it stays on the skin without making you sick from all the sweetness.

But what is more remarkable about it, as I said in the be beginning, is that it’s really, really hydrating, being for very dry skin. It has hydrated my skin leaving it soft for days to come. I actually received compliments on how soft my skin is, it was great!

I most definitely love this product, it’s a great success from Alverde, great effects, great smell, great price (4 euros) and great ingredients (it holds the BDIH and Vegan certifications).

This Alverde Body Butter with Karite Butter and Macadamia Nuts is money well spent and I recommend it with all my heart!

Alverde Shower gel with Grapefruit and Bamboo

Ladies and gents I present you one of the stars of the Alverde shower gel collection! This product right here is one of the most appreciated by the consumers, as far as I have seen on forums, blogs and websites.

The grapefruit bamboo  shower gel  smells great, of orange-grapefruit, it is very fresh and so is the feeling while showering.

Its consistency is not so jelly-like as most of Alverde’s shower gels,  it’s almost a normal one, a viscous fluid. This might seem like good news, but there is a reason for that: this product just holds the Vegan certification, and when looking at the ingredients list we find some of the ingredients that you find in your average supermarket product, like Cocamidopropyl Betaine.

However the product has received the ÖKO-TEST “sehr gut” label, which means it is a very good product according to this German certification authority.

Apart from these technical details, the Alverde Shower gel with Grapefruit and Bamboo does smell great, it feels nice while washing,  leaving a sensation of freshness. I think it dries the skin a bit on the other hand, or in any case I do not feel that it moisturizes it AT ALL.

The smell doesn’t persist on the skin after going out of the shower but your morals are a bit higher so you feel like applying some body oil or butter ;)

The product is ok for the  1, 5 euros it costs, but I have seen better and healthier Alverde shower gels!

Alverde Toothpaste 5 in 1

5 in 1! This sounds like a heck of a product, doesn’t it?

The five effects that this toothpaste supposedly offers, are: protection against cavities, freshening the breath, removing plaque, preventing Paradontosis and healing the gums. This toothpaste looks and smells just like a  normal one, that you can find in supermarkets but it has more natural ingredients among which Mint Oil, Chamomilla and Calendula Extract.

Of course the effects are difficultly evaluated and one can not tell after a month of usage (like I did) if it performs well in all these areas. However, there are things that I can be sure of: for one, it really gives freshness to the breath and the effect is nice, probably due to the mint extract it contains. Unfortunately the effect doesn’t last more than 10 minutes.

It also produces a delicate foam, not like your average toothpaste, a bit less. I do not have gums or Paradontosis problems, so I really can not speak for that, but I didn’t notice any removal of the plaque. :)

Apart from that this toothpaste is kind of neutral to me,  but there certainly are aspects that I dislike: it contains Fluoride and this is a very controversial ingredient, being suspected of being really toxic to the human body.

Furthermore, the price is pretty high, around 2,5 euros while normal toothpaste costs around 1,5 euros for a double quantity.

I am a bit undecided about this product, I acknowledge that it’s healthier (it also holds the Vegan and Nature.org certifications) and offers a fresh breath, but it’s expensive and doesn’t strike me so much in usage or afterwards…

I guess it’s up to you if you try it, I salute Alverde’s initiative anyway, for going towards other areas of personal hygiene too!

Alverde Body Oil with Orange and Sandalwood

I am back with a review just fit for Christmas. We are talking about this body oil that enchants us with a fresh yet elegant smell of oranges.

It is a very liquidy and transparent oil, which can be found in a dark green glass bottle, that protects the properties of the natural oils it contains. Among the ingredients we can find some lovely: sweet almond oil, grape seed oil, olive oil, corn oil, vitamin E, jojoba oil and essential oils. The product is really natural, it holds the Vegan and BDIH certifications, and only costs around 4 euros.

The Alverde Body Oil with Orange and Sandalwood is very hydrating and the rehydration effect lasts for some days, leaving the skin soft and silky. As all the other Alverde oils, it penetrates the skin in about half an hour, so be ready to wait a bit, or apply it on a wet skin for a faster absorption.

The orange smell is very strong so you must really like orange, if you plan to apply this oil every other day or so. However, I do not feel any smell of sandalwood, which is a pity, because the sandalwood smell is very relaxing and gentle.

I find this to be a very good product and I really recommend it, just alternate it with other moisturizers from time to time, so you do not get bored with the smell! Enjoy!

Alverde Men Deodorant Spray

Hi everybody!

Today we have a very special review, and it is special for several reasons: first -  it is a men’s product. But do not worry, I will not give you irrelevant information, since another reason why today’s review is special, is because it is a double one. Mine and my boyfriend’s opinion about the product. This might sound strange but sometimes I use men’s products, I see no reasons why not… Especially the natural ones which are not really that different, just maybe stronger. In this particular case I thought stronger is even better but…

Let’s start with the basic info: never has a natural deodorant worked for me, as for my man this is the first natural deodorant he has ever used. I do not know why, but our opinions on this Alverde deodorant are totally opposite :)

So, my boyfriend loves the product! He has already purchased two or three of them and says he will go on. Even if he is working outdoors all day long, he is sporty and his daily activities are pretty demanding, he says that he feels no  awkward sweat smells and feels dry all day long. He is very happy with this deodorant and I am very happy too, that he is finally starting to use and like “greener” cosmetics.

As far as I have experienced, this deodorant is not efficient. It makes me sweat and … sorry… the smell is not great either. I do not understand what is it with me and natural deodorants, it seems they stimulate my sweat glands and make them even more active. Ok, I do not want to get yucky here, but this product unfortunately doesn’t work for me. It also had the bad luck of being used in pretty stressful days, but I do not give it much credit anyway.

Among the ingredients you can find mint, lemon and ginseng and when applying it the smell is fresh but a bit rough. The deodorant has a pump and it is not under pressure, being friendly to the ozone layer.

It has 75 ml, it has the nature.org and Vegan certification and it costs around 3 euros.

I am really undecided whether to recommend it or not, I guess for some people it works and for others it doesn’t.

If you want a natural, Aluminium free deodorant, feel free to try it and maybe let me know of your opinion! No matter if you are male or female ;)

Alverde Mattifying Cream with Pearls

This cream, which belongs to the “Aqua” range, is destined to normal to mixed skin. Alverde presents it as a 3 in 1 product: mattifying, moisturising and beautifying (??) of the complexion.

Now let’s see is it does at least one of the three ;) Ok, I’m being bad now, it does perform pretty well actually.

The cream is very good at mattifying in my opinion, I use it as a base for the foundation usually, and it keeps the oil away from my skin for a whole stressful day, taking into account that without a base I’m shiny as a Christmas tree within an hour from applying the foundation.

It has a nice milky and deep smell, which doesn’t go away too fast either. Don’t expect it to have a pearly shade because it looks like your average cream, maybe just the smell leads me thinking of a pearl, in a strange way.

I think it does hydrate the skin too, but not so much. My skin even if mixed, is sensitive and sometimes becomes very dry and this cream is definitely not sufficiently rehydrating. Apart from that, I do not know what they meant by this skin improving (beautifying)… I do not see any effect of the sort.

The price is 2,5 euros and the cream holds the BDIH certification.

I do not use the Alverde Mattifying Cream regularly as a hydrating product, but I do warmly recommend you to apply it before the foundation if you have a mixed skin! It will work, trust me! :)

Alverde Foam Bath with Plums and Cinnamon

I will start with the end for this review, because it really got to me: perfect product!

This foam bath has a divine smell of..plums :P Never thought plums can smell so glamorous and sensual. The smell is simply great. I can not tell if the cinnamon is there too, but for the first time in an Alverde product the smell is very intense, and stays on the skin for a good while after coming out of the tub.

Also, unlike other Alverde bath products, this foam bath with plums and cinnamon offers a truly aromatherapy experience, because the smell is sooo strong while taking the bath.

The consistency is not so jelly like as most of the Alverde shower gels, it’s closer to what we’re used to feel in a shower gel, and it does produces foam. A lot of foam. O used it both in a long bath and for short showers, and no matter the type of usage, the effects are there: great smell, foam, soft skin afterwards.

Even with this great smell, the Alverde foam bath with plums and cinnamon has the Vegan and nature.org certifications, it has 300 ml and costs 3,50 euros.

I recommend it and I will grab one or two bottles more, before the winter ends and it disappears off the shelves.

Why do I like Alverde?

Alverde is one of the few brands on Earth that I am really enthusiastic about! I discovered it only one year ago and since then I have been the best consumer ever :)
I think I have purchased an average of one product per week, which leads us to a total of around 50 pieces of Alverde thingies I own or have owned recently.
Now, I have serious reasons for liking Alverde, it’s not just pure dumb enthusiasm: I like the fact that they do not advertise, I think this is one of the reasons why they can offer such incredibly good prices.
I like the ingredients, I am very happy with the natural certifications and I am really fond of the natural smells, that sometimes are not so flashy and appealing, but that is nature and it works for me.
I like the diversity of the Alverde products, of course more would be more than welcome…
I really like the make-up, ’cause you can not see so cheap BDIH certified make-up elsewhere, for sure!
I like the fact that sometimes they blew it. Some of their products are just not working. Ok, I can accept that.
I loove the Limited Editions. Are there any other brands that launch Limited Editions so often? And I enjoy the fact that one type of product will be available for just a tiny amount of time.
I like the fact that it is a modest brand. There’s no much fuss about it, no million euros invested in advertising.
Of course, I love the ingredients and the feeling of purity of the products.
And what I enjoy most is that Alverde surprises me every time I try a new product of theirs!

Alverde Washing Emulsion with Calendula

This is a very delicate face washing  emulsion, fit to persons who do not have problems with their complexion and want a silky wash.

The texture is nice but a bit too liquidy, I think. It cleans the make up pretty well, there’s not much left of the foundation or eye shadow after washing my face with this Alverde emulsion. Mixed with water, the product goes away very quickly and I don’t get to rub the face really well, maybe I should apply more.

Unfortunately it does not clean very well my stubborn Alverde Mascara, which I reviewed some days ago. When having the mascara on, some light black circles remain around my eyes and I have to insist with some almond oil afterwards to get rid of all the residue.

This washing lotion with Calendula is for any type of skin and this shows because it does not clean profoundly my greasy and clogged pores. On the other hand it doesn’t say it would, so we can not blame it :) I use it with a face brush anyway, that does the trick and the face stays really clean.

The smell is also delicate, creamy and not strong at all, just a bit of Calendula and a bit milky.

This product does an average job in cleaning the make-up and I would recommend it to a normal to sensitive skin, because it is not very powerful.

It holds the BDIH certification and it contains alcohol, listed very high actually, third on the ingredients’ list. Awkwardly enough, there is no smell of alcohol in the product and no dryness of the skin afterwards, so it must be really well-balanced by the other ingredients.

I would rate it an 7,50/10. If this is good enough for you to pay 1,5 euros, then I recommend it! :)
